USSD apps are wonderfully simple and ubiquitous. Their menu-driven interfaces are easy to master, and they work on the cheapest of phones. However, the techniques needed to build them can be surprisingly sophisticated. In this talk I will take you on a tour of USSD development, starting from a simple app and gradually moving to more advanced topics like automated tests, scalability, and custom analytics.
